If you are looking for Christmas help you should start by calling your local church, there are programs in the churches that offer Christmas help.  You usually are paired with a family or group who will contact you and ask for your needs.  Then there is your local Police Department, Maryland has a program called Shop With A Cop that takes children shopping for Christmas, ask your department if they have that.  Call your local Department of Social Services and ask them for the local Charities in your area that offer Christmas help.  Don't forget about Toys for Tots find the local TFT in your area and ask how to sign up. If you have a local Human Services program call them they are a great place to start.

I know that Christmas when you are a single mom trying to survive is the hardest time of the year since all we want to do is make one day for are kids that they can smile and be excited. Then our gift is looking into their eyes we can forget everything we go without and how hard we struggle.  :) mommaof5

Hi my name is Lynn, I have had the worst week this past week of the worst four months of my life.  First let me say that everything I am writing is true I can show anyone who ask police reports and papers and secondly I am here asking for help as my last option, I have tried everything else first. 

I have five kids and the three youngest live with me.  I work full time and part time however that doesn't leave much left after I pay the bills and buy food.  According to Maryland I make too much money to qualify for more than $82 dollars a month in food money.  Okay, I can do this...yeah right. I have a house I saved from forclosure with a loan modification except I am living somewhere else so on top of rent I now have to pay the mortgage.  I can't live in the house since it needs work.  Serious work.  Someone ripped the well out, sumppump, and there is no stove now, the front door was kicked in and that tore the frame apart.  I needed money to make repairs; like the floor in the bathroom is sinking by the toliet.  I know it seems impossible to understand why I would want to save my old house but, it is the house my daughter found for us and it is the only house I will ever own on my own.  It just needed TLC and as a mom I have a lot of that in my heart and I can do most of the repairs myself.  That and what I can't do I have a few good friends willing to help for some food while they work, all I have to do is provide the material.  I estimated the cost at around $6500, that was based on measuring what was needed (ie: drywall) and then comparision shopping.

First I needed a car since the mile walk to work and trips carrying laundry to the laundrymat where getting harder and buy food was a mile walk and a long trip back.  I took $500 I saved for weeks and then wrote a check for $300 more for them to hold and brought a car!  That happiness was short lived.  It has been 18 days and the car went up last night in the ice rain.  The brakes, engine, transmission, oh my god the whole thing.  I called the Pay as you go dealer in PA I brought it from they won't look at it today, and even then I am suppose to start my part-time job today, going to home of the elderly to help them.  How without a car?  I have a meeting with the new boss tonight to get my schedule and sign the papers but guess what no car!!! 

I have tried so hard and I have scrapped and done this on my own. Now what?  Is there one person who has the ability to help me?  I can even pay any money back over time as a monthly payment.  I would like to fix my house up and then go back home that would reduce my bills and be so much easier on me since Christmas is coming and in our family that means Birthdays.  I only need the $6500.  As for the car I am telling them I want my money back and there is a Lemon Law that should help with that.  But I can't do this anymore by myself and no program is willing to help me since as a single mom I have limited income enough to survive basically nothing more.

In the last four months I was attacked by a dog that tore my arm up, saved my home from the threat of auction, my daughters walked by a group of people who started shooting at each other over a football!!! No more trips to the park for them. My car blew up it's internals, I depended on my car, now I have to ask for help.  Please if anyone can help contact me,
